Spot Coating Applications - ESI

We are distributing strippable spot coating plates as well as compressible underpacking. We offer two types of plates: ESI SPOT, which is a strippable rubber material, and Folacoat, which is a strippable polymer. Our compressible underpacking, Folacomp, comes in different thicknesses as well as non adhesive or self adhesive. For ideal spot coating results we recommend the use of both in conjunction with one another. There are many advantages of using these plates as opposed to a typical rubber blanket.

The use of these plates will offer the following:
- excellent wetting and transfer of water based and U.V. coatings
- excellent release of coating requiring minimal squeeze
- smooth surface optimizes the lay down of the coating
- increased life over conventional blankets
- minimal smashes when used in conjunction with a compressible underpacking
- knock out areas i.e. glue flaps/mailers

The compressible underpacking will offer the following:
- increases durability of coating
- faster print speed
- increased print runs
- microgroove structure of the adhesive surface allows air bubbles to easily escape during the mounting process

In addition to the spot coating materials, we now have a plotter we utilize for the cutting of spot coating areas and stripping of these plates. Should you have any further questions or need any information, feel free to call Kevin Collins at 312-733-3400.

Soft Feel - ESI
Need a coating that transforms the paper or board surface feel from smooth to velvet? Then you need our Soft Feel Coating WBC-5048. This waterbased coating, which can be applied via roll or anilox coater gives a velvety feel to the surface. The flat, dull finish has excellent non-burnishing and high rub characteristics. Consider ordering a pail of the Soft Feel WBC-5048.

Green Coatings - ESI
A majority of our waterbased coatings are VOC Free. With the emphasis on printers worldwide for "Green Printing", the absence of VOC (volatile organic compounds) in our coating takes on even greater importance. We have initiated a significant marketing campaign in Canada promoting the VOC Free nature of most of our coatings.
